1WHEN DREAMERS FALL (Stars Fall Circle 2)

by ABBY J. REED

Published Date: 5/15/2019

Publisher: Soul Mate Publishing

ESCAPE WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING . . .

Breaker sacrificed everything—his home, his hand, even his relationship with his little brother—for the chance to escape Scarlatti’s war and find peace in their ancestral home. But time is running out. Supplies are low, Brody hasn’t recovered from his concussion, and Breaker’s right to lead is looking rather grim.

When a stranger arrives, Breaker realizes the world outside Scarlatti is so much bigger than even he could ever dream. Torn between the home he knows and the new home he wants, he will have to ask himself what else he’s willing to sacrifice. With old friends, two new points of view, and more secrets to unbury, read the series Kirkus has called “a propulsive, sharply crafted tale.”

WHEN DREAMERS FALL is book two of the Stars Fall Circle series and is meant to be read in order. Readers who enjoy multi-POV action-packed sci-fi will love this twisty tale.

My Thoughts

5 Stars!

When Dreamers Fall was an exciting and captivating sci-fi novel. I really liked the first novel and couldn’t wait to read this one!

The sequel to When Planets Fall continues with Breaker, Malani, Luka, Tahnya and Brody having left Scarlatti to search for their ancestral planet.

The characters were strong and amazing and I learned more about them, especially Tahnya. The addition of Jupe also made things more interesting. I really liked his personality.

The plot was intriguing and filled with many new discoveries, twists and unexpected surprises. With so much happening in this novel, it was hard to put down and I’m looking forward to see what happens next especially after that ending!

“Vivir valiente, vivir cierto.”

My Thoughts

4.5 Stars!

Scepter of Fire was a really fascinating novel. It was filled with adventure, magic and romance. I enjoyed the plot of the novel and the characters.

I liked Varna because even though she isn’t really beautiful that never stopped her from being kind. She would also do anything to protect those she loves. Erik and Anders were also a nice addition, both being brave and strong-willed. It was also great to see Gerda, Thyra, Kai, Luki, Bae and Sephia again!

Scepter of Fire was a great read and recommended to fans of fantasy!

My Thoughts

4 Stars!

Crown of Ice was a different kind of novel. It is told from the perspective of Thyra Winther, The Snow Queen. She is cold, unkind and stops at nothing to survive.

Thyra was an interesting character because I haven’t really read any novels told from the perspective of someone considered  to be the villain. I wasn’t sure if I liked her or understood her at first. Kai was also an interesting character who was smart, kind and determined. I found Gerda to be a bit annoying at first but also kind. And Luki was absolutely adorable.

The plot was intriguing and I wasn’t sure how things would play out. I think readers looking for something unique might enjoy Crown of Ice!

My Thoughts

5 Stars!

Cashmere was an absolutely captivating sequel. I really loved it and could not put it down! It continues where Velvet left off and we are introduced to more characters and details about the Council.

I found Cashmere to be very well written. The story was really gripping and unique with amazing characters, action, humor and romance! I also loved that there was a lot of detail into everything especially the outfits made by Caitlin.

I liked seeing more of Caitlin and Adrian together and how we are slowly finding out what Caitlin is. I really liked Kalare. She was an amazing friend and even Julian was more understanding. It was also nice to see Caitlin’s internship in New York and how she made some new friends.

I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment! If you haven’t read this series yet, you really should as it is amazing!!

The Author

Temple West, debut author of the YA paranormal romance Velvet, is as nerdy in real life as she is on the Twitter. Armed with a very shiny English degree, she spent four months in Oxford holed up at the Radcliffe Camera amongst the hush of ancient books and the rich musk of academia. Returning to Los Angeles, she acquired a concurrent degree in film, mostly as an excuse to write essays about The Princess Bride and Hook. She can sew (poorly), drive stick (please fasten your seatbelt), and mostly lift her feet off the ground while stuttering into first gear on a very small motorcycle. She currently lives in Seattle and is the proud mother to a one-year-old laptop and a vintage Remington typewriter.

Some melodies reach across the stars.

In 2157, the Adryil—an advanced race of telepathic humanoids—contacted Earth. A century later, 15-year-old violist Iris Lei considers herself lucky to attend Papilio, a prestigious performing arts school powered by their technology. Born penniless, Iris’s one shot at a better life is to attract an Adryil patron. But only the best get hired, and competition is fierce.

A sudden encounter with an Adryil boy upends her world. Iris longs to learn about him and his faraway realm, but after the authorities arrest him for trespassing, the only evidence she has of his existence is the mysterious alien device he slipped to her.

When she starts hearing his voice in her head, she wonders if her world of backstabbing artists and pressure for perfection is driving her insane. Then, she discovers that her visions of him are real—by way of telepathy—and soon finds herself lost in the kind of impossible love she depicts in her music.

But even as their bond deepens, Iris realizes that he’s hiding something from her—and it’s dangerous. Her quest for answers leads her past her sheltered world to a strange planet lightyears away, where she uncovers secrets about Earth’s alien allies that shatter everything she knows

My Thoughts

5 Stars!

Starswept was a really fascinating novel filled with adventure, music and romance.

I loved the plot of the novel and how part of the story was on Earth and the other part on Adryil. The story was well written and absolutely mesmerizing.

Iris is determined to find herself a patron to support herself and reunite her family but is certain her skills aren’t good enough. She then meets Damiul, an Adryil that broke into her school.

The characters were really captivating and unique. I really liked Iris. She was determined, played by the rules and curious. Damiul was literally out of this world and most definitely a mystery that I wanted to more about. Milo was a really great and supportive best friend and Cara was really brave and stubborn.

I loved the details of all the various arts at the school and how Iris and her friends are trying to fight for freedom and their rights.

Starswept is a brilliant sci-fi novel with romance that will sweep you of your feet!
